Omaha Street FC is the last club from Kansas, Missouri, Iowa or Nebraska in Open Cup qualifying

Omaha Street FC is the only club from Kansas, Missouri, Iowa or Nebraska still in qualifying for the 2027 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup after the Second Qualifying Round on Oct. 3–4.

The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) club won 2-1 at Woodland Football Club of the Midwest Premier League (MWPL) on Oct. 4 at St. Joseph Athletic Field in Shawnee, Kan., according to U.S. Soccer's results.

The same day, BOHFS St. Louis's bid for a second straight trip to the tournament proper ended with a 5-2 home loss to Chicago Nation FC, a UPSL club, at Sport 360 in St. Charles, Mo. U.S. Soccer credited Chicago Nation's Preston Huirton with a hat trick.

On Oct. 3, Oklahoma United FC beat Tulsa Athletic 2-1 at Tom Thompson Field in Edmond, Okla. U.S. Soccer lists Oklahoma United's hometown as Oklahoma City. Both clubs play in The League for Clubs. Also on Oct. 3, Chicago House AC (MWPL) beat Ethos United 2-1 after extra time in Chicago.

No Iowa club entered qualifying this year.

That leaves four clubs from LLR's six-state region (Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Illinois) among the 64 still alive: Omaha Street, Oklahoma United, Chicago House and Chicago Nation. Clubs from neighboring states also advanced, including the Milwaukee Bavarians, who won 2-1 at Green Bay Glory, and Arkansas Wolves 2.

What's next

The Third Qualifying Round is set for Oct. 31–Nov. 1. Its 32 winners advance to the Final Qualifying Round on Nov. 21–22, which decides 16 places in the tournament proper, where amateurs meet professionals in April 2027.

U.S. Soccer announced the Round 3 draw on Oct. 9. Omaha Street will host the Milwaukee Bavarians of the Milwaukee Premier League on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 4 p.m. CT at the CHI Health MultiSport Complex in La Vista, Neb. The two Chicago clubs meet each other, so at most three of the region's four can advance: Chicago Nation hosts Chicago House at 7 p.m. CT at College of DuPage Stadium in Glen Ellyn, Ill. Oklahoma United plays at Arkansas Wolves 2 at 6 p.m. CT in North Little Rock, Ark. U.S. Soccer said pairings combined geography and random selection, and hosts were drawn at random.

The Bavarians will come much farther than Woodland did: by LLR's straight-line estimate, their hometown of Glendale, Wis., is about 436 miles from La Vista. Under U.S. Soccer's handbook, a visiting team traveling more than 300 miles can request reimbursement for airfare or a coach bus. Omaha Street also reached the third round last year, losing 4-2 to BOHFS.

The UPSL's website also lists an Omaha Street home league match against Reapers FC on Nov. 1 at the same complex, the day of the Open Cup game, and another home match, against Club Atletico Omaha, on Nov. 22, inside the final-round window. As of 7:28 a.m. CT on Oct. 10, neither listing had changed.
